To date, the seven NCSS partners have acquired 198 objects. Although small in scale as a collective group of objects, the works have been acquired in relation to articulated collecting policies, and they are designed to relate intimately to each NCSS partner's wider collections. They do not form a 'distributed national collection of contemporary art,' but rather result from a process of 'linked collecting' undertaken by seven geographically dispersed and locally distinct partners to a shared level of ambition.
